You will need a County Parish Holding (CPH) number for the land where you will be carrying out agricultural activity or keeping livestock. To obtain a CPH number, you will need to contact the Rural Payments Agency on 0845 6037777.
Do I need a CPH number for keeping a pig?
Firstly it is illegal to keep a pet pig without a CPH number. It is needed in case of disease outbreak so the authorities can track who has pigs and where. A CPH number is issued by Rural Payments Agency. Once you buy a pig you should inform your local animal health department, they will then send you your own herd number.
